JCO proudly present our best Granulated Coconut Sugar which is produced in the best way. Coconut sugar is a viable sugar substitute as it has very low Glycemic Index (GI) compare to other sugars. So, it is good for people with diabetic or obesity. The GI of coconut sugar based on test results from the Philippines, USA, Japan and Australia is in the range of 35 to 54 GI per serving. Other sugars such as refined white sugar, muscovado sugar, and molasses have a range of 65 to 100 GI per serving! Other natural sweeteners such as date sugar has a 100 GI per serving, Maple Syrup has 69+ GI per serving and Honey has a 70+ GI per serving.

However, the GI value alone does not give accurate picture of the the food as it only takes into account the quality of the carbohydrate and not the quantity. The Glycemic Load (GL) takes into account both quality and quantity of the carbohydrate in food. Take for example a watermelon. A Watermelon has a GI of 72. Judging from GI alone, a watermelon will not be safe to eat. However, a serving of 120 grams of watermelon yields a GL of roughly 4 and therefore is safe to eat. Foods that have a low GI have a low GL while foods with an intermediate or high GI range from very low to very high GL. To optimize insulin levels, your diet must consist of carbohydrates with low GI and low GL values and avoid foods with high GI and GL.

Other than the low GI, coconut Sugar also has high mineral content. It is a rich source of potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron. In addition to this it contains vitamin B1, B2, B3 and B6. When compared to brown sugar, Coconut Sugar has twice the iron, four times the magnesium and over 10 times the amount of zinc! Coconut sugar paste is the best to use by sprinkling on butter jam on bread, additional sugar for cakes or bread dough, or just add it in your tea or coffee. It has a nice caramel sweetness that will enrich  your drink flavor.
